Paterson Shooting: Three Arrested in 2025 Murder Case

Three individuals have been arrested for their alleged involvement in a fatal shooting that occurred on Clinton Street in Paterson in July 2025. Kardan Ali-Delane, Javon Briggs, and Ysad Sykes face charges ranging from first-degree murder to drug and weapons offenses.

Investigators recovered over two dozen rounds of ammunition from the scene. Witnesses reported seeing masked individuals fleeing, with one allegedly carrying an AK-47-style gun. One of the firearms seized was determined to be used in the July 12 shooting.

Further investigation revealed that Sykes allegedly purchased a firearm in North Carolina a month prior to the shooting and provided it to Ali-Delane. Another handgun linked to the crime was also purchased in North Carolina. Briggs was found to be in possession of fentanyl and three firearms after his arrest.

New Jersey Attorney General Jennifer Davenport stated that the office has no tolerance for illegal firearm trafficking and will hold those responsible accountable. Ali-Delane faces significant prison time if convicted of murder, while all three defendants are facing first-degree charges.
