Desai conspired with others to kill Delaram Nai by ramming his motorcycle with an SUV. They abandoned the vehicle to suggest a hit-and-run, but subsequent investigations revealed the planned nature of the attack. The Sadri Police Station registered a case of murder and criminal conspiracy.
For over two decades, Desai remained a fugitive, constantly changing locations and identities to avoid capture. Rajasthan authorities had offered a reward for his arrest. Following precise intelligence, Desai was located and apprehended at his residence in Vejalpur, Ahmedabad. Legal proceedings are underway to transfer him to Rajasthan for prosecution.
