A tragedy claiming the lives of 21 laborers has led to the arrest of a contractor and a head mason in Assam. The victims were being illegally transported to a construction site in Arunachal Pradesh when their truck veered off a treacherous road, falling into a 200-metre gorge.
The arrested individuals, identified as Md Sirajul Ahmed and Sairuddin Ali, face severe charges under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, including human trafficking and acts endangering life. Investigations revealed that mandatory safety protocols and proper documentation were ignored during the transportation of the workers.
