Fake Kinnars Nabbed Extorting Passengers on Trains

In a significant crackdown, the Railway Protection Force (RPF) in Mirzapur apprehended 11 women on Friday for posing as Kinnars to extort money from passengers. These women, originating from Punjab, had established a base in the Deen Dayal Upadhyaya (Mughalsarai) area of Chandauli district to board trains across different routes.
A special drive was initiated by RPF Mirzapur in response to numerous complaints received via the railway helpline 139 regarding the menace of extortion by individuals claiming to be Kinnars.
During the operation, the arrested women were found harassing passengers and demanding money. Seven were apprehended from an AC coach of train number 12487, while four were caught at Chheoki station in train number 11402. Investigations revealed that some women were also selling garlands and pictures to supplement their extortion activities.
The RPF recovered a total of Rs 31,777 in cash from the arrested individuals and have proceeded against them under relevant sections of the Railways Act. The group primarily consisted of individuals from Moga, Dharmkot, and Ferozepur areas of Punjab, residing in Mughalsarai for their operations.
This recent operation is part of an ongoing drive where eight more women were apprehended earlier. In total, 20 women have been caught over the past few days on the DDU-Mirzapur-Vindhyachal-Prayagraj-Chheoki section of the railways. Authorities have pledged to continue such actions to ensure passenger safety and convenience.
