29 Jun
Summary
- A 10-year-old boy is charged with first-degree murder.
- The victim was a 7-month-old baby girl.
- The accused may be the youngest murder defendant in Missouri history.

In a shocking development, a 10-year-old boy has been charged with first-degree murder following the death of a 7-month-old infant in St. Louis, Missouri. Authorities announced the charges on Saturday, June 27, potentially making him the youngest individual ever charged with murder in the state.
The victim, Kiyomi Parker, was found with gunshot wounds at a home on June 26 and later succumbed to her injuries. Detectives were informed by witnesses that the 10-year-old boy had retrieved a firearm and shot the infant in the head.
The infant's father, 19-year-old Ca'Marion Pawnell, has been charged with second-degree murder and child endangerment. Court documents indicate Pawnell stored a gun under a mattress, and the 10-year-old boy was aware of its location and access.
Given Missouri law requires individuals to be 12 years or older to be tried as adults, the 10-year-old is expected to be charged as a juvenile. A seven-year-old child was also present in the home during the incident.
