Walmart Revolutionizes Retail with Sub-5-Minute Deliveries

As of September 2025, Walmart's retail dominance is becoming increasingly evident, with its vast store network of 4,700 locations across the US putting millions of items within quick reach of shoppers. The company's US CEO, John Furner, recently revealed that Walmart's quickest delivery speed this year has clocked in at under 5 minutes, a testament to the company's focus on providing customers with unparalleled convenience.

Walmart's Chief Financial Officer, John Rainey, further elaborated on the company's delivery prowess, stating that a third of Walmart's ship-from-store orders were fulfilled in 3 hours or less, and a fifth of those orders reached customers in just 30 minutes or less. This means that one in every fifteen orders fulfilled from Walmart's stores is arriving in under half an hour.

Walmart's head of US e-commerce, David Guggina, expressed his excitement about the company's commitment to ultra-fast delivery, stating that "three-day will turn into two-day, two-day into next-day, next-day into the same-day, same-day into sub-same-day. And more and more items will be offered at ultra-fast speeds in minutes." This focus on rapid fulfillment is a key part of Walmart's strategy to stay ahead of the competition, particularly e-commerce giant Amazon.

Walmart's deep investment in its store and distribution network across the US is giving the company a significant advantage, with 94% of the population within a 3-hour reach of a Walmart location. Guggina emphasized that this "forward-deployed fulfillment network" allows Walmart to offer a vast product selection, with millions of items available for ultra-fast delivery.
