RBI Extends Deadline for Jan Dhan Account Re-KYC Verification
7 Aug
Summary
- RBI announces Sept. 30 deadline for Jan Dhan account re-KYC
- Public sector banks conducting re-KYC camps at panchayats
- Re-KYC camps also offer micro insurance, pension, and grievance services

In a significant move, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has announced an extension for Pradhan Mantri Jan-Dhan Yojana (PMJDY) account holders to complete their mandatory re-KYC (Know Your Customer) verification. As per the rules, PMJDY accounts opened between 2014 and 2015 are now due for re-KYC, which must be done within 10 years of account opening.
To ensure a smooth and hassle-free experience for account holders, the RBI has directed public sector banks to conduct re-KYC camps at panchayats across the country from July 1 to September 30, 2025. These camps will not only facilitate the re-KYC process but also provide access to other important services, such as micro insurance, pension schemes, and grievance redressal.
The PMJDY scheme was launched in 2014 with the aim of promoting financial inclusion and achieving universal access to banking services, particularly for lower-income groups. The extension of the re-KYC deadline and the establishment of these dedicated camps are expected to greatly benefit the millions of Jan Dhan account holders who need to update their information.
