In a significant administrative reshuffle, the Uttar Pradesh government has appointed Medha Roopam, a 2014-batch IAS officer, as the new District Magistrate of Noida. Roopam becomes the first woman to hold this position in the city, replacing Manish Verma, who has been transferred to Prayagraj.
Roopam is no stranger to Gautam Budh Nagar district, having previously served as the Additional Chief Executive Officer of the Greater Noida Authority. During her tenure, she handled major infrastructure and planning projects. With a background in economics from Delhi University's St. Stephen's College, Roopam has held key administrative positions in several districts, including Bareilly, Meerut, Unnao, Lucknow, Barabanki, Hapur, and Kasganj.
Alongside her administrative experience, Roopam is also a national-level rifle shooter, having won three gold medals in the Kerala State Shooting Championship before securing an all-India rank of 10 in the 2014 UPSC exam. Her previous tenures have been marked by focused campaigns on immunization and the Ayushman Bharat scheme, as well as hands-on involvement in rescue efforts during floods.
The reshuffle also saw changes in Ghaziabad, where Ravindra Kumar Mandar, a 2013-batch IAS officer and former District Magistrate of Prayagraj, has replaced Deepak Meena, who has moved to Gorakhpur. Mandar, known for his low-profile yet high-impact administration, has previously launched initiatives like "Mission Samarth" in Rampur, enabling surgeries for 61 children with disabilities, and led a large-scale pond restoration project under the Amrit Sarovar scheme.
