Summary
- John Lewis investing £800M into brand revamp
- Expanding beauty halls by 40%, adding 132 premium brands
- Partnering with Rihanna's Fenty Beauty for UK launch

As of August 8th, 2025, the iconic British retailer John Lewis has unveiled a sweeping £800 million investment into revamping its brand and stores nationwide. A key focus of this initiative is the transformation of John Lewis' beauty halls, which are being expanded by nearly 40% and will feature 132 premium brands, including 23 new or expanded counters.
Notably, John Lewis has announced a new partnership with Rihanna's Fenty Beauty, with the popular makeup brand debuting in the retailer's Liverpool store and launching a new collection online. Rihanna herself expressed pride in expanding the Fenty Beauty presence further into the UK market.
The revamped beauty halls are designed to offer a "multi-sensory" shopping experience, with features like fragrance spaces, treatment rooms, and beauty services. Similar refurbishments are set to roll out at John Lewis stores in Bluewater, Solihull, Cambridge, Welwyn, and London White City before the end of 2025.
John Lewis' executive director, Peter Ruis, had acknowledged that some of the retailer's stores needed "more love" after facing challenges in recent years, including store closures and shifting consumer behaviors due to the pandemic. However, the company is betting big on the future of physical retail, particularly in the thriving beauty market, which has seen sales surge by over 40% in the past five years.
When the beauty hall transformation is complete, John Lewis expects to offer some 540 beauty counters, nearly 70 treatment rooms, and more than 400 beauty services across its nationwide network of stores.
