According to the latest ASK Private Wealth Hurun India Unicorn and Future Unicorn Report 2025, India's startup ecosystem has experienced a remarkable growth, with 11 new companies joining the unicorn club in 2025. As of September 11, 2025, the country now boasts a total of 73 unicorns, collectively employing over 206,000 people.
The report highlights the most valuable unicorns, including Zerodha at $8.2 billion, Razorpay and Lenskart at $7.5 billion each, and Groww at $7 billion. These companies have not only achieved impressive valuations but have also made significant contributions to the workforce, with Lenskart, OfBusiness, and PhysicsWallah leading in terms of employee numbers.
The startup ecosystem has also seen a growing diversity, with women founders such as Ruchi Kalra (OfBusiness), Vineeta Singh (SUGAR Cosmetics), and Garima Sawhney (Pristyn Care) making their mark. Additionally, the youngest unicorn founders, Kaivalya Vohra and Aadit Palicha of Zepto, are just 22 years old.
Bengaluru remains the top hub for unicorns, with 26 companies valued at $70 billion, followed by Delhi-NCR and Mumbai. The report also notes that the fintech sector continues to dominate the unicorn landscape, both in terms of numbers and valuations.
