India's Central Govt Offices Adjust Pay Schedules for Ganesh Chaturthi and Onam

In a move to accommodate the upcoming Ganesh Chaturthi and Onam festivals, the Indian government has announced that central government employees and pensioners in Maharashtra and Kerala will receive their salaries and pensions earlier than usual.
According to a memorandum issued by the Ministry of Finance, central government offices in Maharashtra, including those handling defense, posts, and telecommunications, will disburse August 2025 salaries on August 26, 2025 - a day before the Ganesh Chaturthi festival on August 27.
Similarly, central government employees in Kerala, including those in the industrial sector, will receive their August 2025 wages and pensions on August 25, 2025, ahead of the Onam festival celebrated on September 4 and 5.

The ministry has instructed the Reserve Bank of India to notify the banks handling the cash transfers in advance, ensuring the transactions are completed as expected. This practice is undertaken to provide government employees and pensioners the funds required to plan their expenses for these major regional festivals.
