Hyundai Motor India Ltd (HMIL) has reported strong sales performance in July 2025, with the Hyundai Creta SUV leading the charge. The company sold a total of 60,073 units last month, including 43,973 units in the domestic market and 16,100 units exported.
The Creta, which is celebrating its 10th anniversary in the Indian market, has been a consistent performer for Hyundai. In the January-July 2025 period, the Creta has further solidified its leadership position among SUVs, accounting for 71.8% of Hyundai's domestic sales - the highest-ever contribution since the brand's entry into the Indian market.
The Creta's success story is truly remarkable. Since its launch in 2015, the SUV has crossed the 12 lakh cumulative sales mark in India, cementing its position as the country's most popular SUV. Its annual sales have more than doubled, rising from 92,926 units in 2016 to 1,86,919 units in 2024. The Creta now commands a dominant 31% share in the mid-size SUV segment and has ranked as the top-selling vehicle across all categories in three of the first six months of 2025.
Hyundai's focus on continuously updating the Creta's design and features, along with its wide range of powertrain choices, has been a key driver of its success. Sunroof-equipped variants account for about 70% of current sales, while the proportion of first-time buyers has surged from 12% in 2020 to 29% in 2024, indicating the SUV's growing appeal among younger, modern buyers.
As Hyundai celebrates the Creta's incredible 10-year journey in India, the company remains optimistic about the future, with the onset of the festive season and a robust supply chain to cater to the market's demand.
