Summary
- Ecommerce sales to reach Rs 1.2 lakh crore this festive season, up 27% from 2024
- Quick commerce projected to account for Rs 14,010 in sales by 2025
- Grocery, appliances, and personal care to drive sales growth, mobile and lifestyle to decline

As the 2025 festive season approaches, the ecommerce industry is bracing for a surge in sales. According to the latest data from Datum Intelligence, ecommerce companies and online sellers are projected to ship goods worth Rs 1.2 lakh crore this year, marking a 27% increase from the approximately Rs 94,800 crore recorded in the previous year.
Alongside the overall ecommerce growth, the quick commerce segment is also poised for a significant expansion. The report estimates that quick commerce, which includes services like Zomato-owned Blinkit and Swiggy Instamart, is expected to account for Rs 14,010 in sales by 2025 in terms of net order value (NOV).
The anticipated sales growth is driven by a rebound in consumer sentiment, with 37.6% of urban Indian respondents reporting higher non-essential spending in July 2025, signaling a resurgence in discretionary demand ahead of the festive season. Ecommerce giants like Amazon India and Walmart-owned Flipkart are gearing up for their annual month-long festive sales, while quick commerce players are also preparing to capitalize on the Diwali season.
The report suggests that categories such as grocery, appliances, and personal care are expected to fuel the sales growth, while mobile and lifestyle segments may see a decline in their share of overall GMV (Gross Merchandise Value). However, these traditional categories are still projected to contribute over 50% of the total festive sales.
