Disney+ and Hulu to Merge into Unified Streaming App by 2026

As of August 7th, 2025, Disney has announced a major change in its streaming strategy. The company revealed that Hulu and Disney+ will fully integrate into a new "unified" streaming app, set to launch in 2026.

In June 2025, Disney officially became the sole owner of Hulu, allowing them to begin the integration process. The company's CEO, Bob Iger, and CFO, Hugh Johnston, stated that this move will "strengthen [their] streaming offering" and provide a more comprehensive entertainment experience for subscribers.

Hulu will be rebranded as Disney's "global general entertainment brand" and will replace the Star tile in the Disney+ international app in the fall of 2025. This means that Hulu's extensive library of television shows, movies, and original content will be seamlessly integrated into the Disney+ platform.

Additionally, the Disney+ app will undergo improvements, including "exciting new features and a more personalized homepage," according to Iger. This suggests that the combined platform will offer a more tailored and user-friendly experience for viewers.

While some reports have suggested that Hulu will no longer be a stand-alone app, Disney has assured consumers that both Disney+ and Hulu will still be available as separate subscriptions, even after the integration is complete in 2026.
