Disney+ and Hulu Subscriptions Surge, Lifting Streaming Revenue
6 Aug
Summary
- Disney+ and Hulu reach 183 million combined subscribers
- Disney's domestic parks business sees strong growth
- ESPN to gain control of NFL Network and RedZone

In the three-month period ending June 2025, Disney's streaming revenue increased by 6%, with the segment turning a profit of $346 million. This growth was driven by a 2.6 million increase in combined Disney+ and Hulu subscribers, which reached 183 million by the end of June.
Disney's domestic parks business also played a key role in the company's performance, with revenue in the experiences segment rising 8%. This growth was attributed to strong performance at the U.S. and international theme parks, as well as the Disney Cruise Line.
However, Disney's linear TV networks, including ABC, saw a 4% decline in revenue and a 14% drop in operating income. This was partly due to the close of the company's Star India transaction.

Looking ahead, Disney is projecting a significant increase in Disney+ and Hulu subscriptions, with a forecast of more than 10 million additional subscribers in the July-September 2025 period. This growth is expected to be driven by the company's expanded Charter deal.

In return, ESPN will gain control over NFL Network and the NFL RedZone highlights service, as well as three pro-football games that were previously shown on the NFL's own cable network.
