On August 23, 2025, banks across the country will be closed as the day falls on a Saturday. As per the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) guidelines, banks do not operate on the second and fourth Saturdays, along with Sundays.
Despite the bank holiday, customers will still be able to access digital banking services for various transactions, such as fund transfers, account management, bill payments, and more. Customers who had planned to visit their local branches for activities like cash deposits, cheque clearances, or updating passbooks will need to reschedule their visits.
In addition to the nationwide Saturday bank holiday, there will be some state-specific bank holidays in August 2025. Banks in Assam will be closed on August 25 to commemorate the death anniversary of the renowned saint, scholar, and cultural icon Srimanta Sankardev. Furthermore, banks in Gujarat, Maharashtra, Bangalore, Odisha, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Goa, and Andhra Pradesh will be closed on August 27 to celebrate Ganesh Chaturthi. Lastly, banks in Odisha will be closed on August 28 to celebrate Nuakhai, while banks in Goa will be closed on the same day to continue the Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations.
