Summary
- Grade II listed Manor Farm near Thirsk to become luxury hotel.
- The hotel will feature 15 bedrooms, a restaurant, spa, and pool.
- Plans aim to repair the historic building while boosting local tourism.

A proposal to convert the dilapidated, Grade II listed Manor Farm near Thirsk into a boutique hotel is currently under consideration. The development plan includes transforming the historic farmhouse and associated barns into a luxury guest accommodation. This ambitious project aims to address substantial structural defects within the listed building, facilitating its much-needed repair for the future.
The proposed hotel would offer 15 guest bedrooms, alongside six boutique accommodation pods. Guests will also have access to amenities such as a restaurant, a swimming pool, and a spa. The plans also include the creation of orchards and extensions to existing outbuildings, as well as a dedicated parking area.
Supporters of the scheme highlight its potential to complement the successful Thirsk Lodge Barns business, which hosts over 200 weddings and events annually. The expansion would provide enhanced accommodation for wedding parties and establish a standalone boutique hotel with garden and spa facilities accessible to the public. Environmental assessments have indicated no objections from Natural England, though North Yorkshire Council's ecology team noted complex protected species issues that have been addressed with mitigation measures.
