Wonder Group Files for IPO Amid Drone Delivery Push
5 Nov
Summary
- Food delivery startup Wonder Group filed confidentially for a US IPO.
- The company plans to expand its network, including drone deliveries.
- Wonder Group acquired Grubhub for $650 million in 2025.

Wonder Group, a food delivery startup spearheaded by former Walmart executive Marc Lore, has initiated the process for a US initial public offering by filing confidentially. This strategic move allows the company to prepare for a public listing while maintaining privacy regarding its financial details until closer to the offering date.
The New York-based company is advancing its public offering plans amidst a challenging market characterized by fluctuating conditions and increased borrowing expenses. Wonder Group operates innovative food halls designed as 'ghost kitchens,' preparing meals from a wide array of restaurant brands.
Future expansion includes the deployment of drone deliveries in Texas, scheduled to commence in January 2027, through a collaboration with Zipline. This initiative aligns Wonder Group with larger competitors like Amazon and DoorDash, who are also exploring drone technology for delivery networks, although regulatory and privacy concerns persist.
Wonder Group has strategically grown through acquisitions, notably purchasing Grubhub for $650 million in 2025. Previous acquisitions include meal-kit company Blue Apron for $103 million in 2023 and kitchen-robotics firm Spyce for $186 million in 2025. In July, the company secured $650 million in funding at a pre-money valuation of $9 billion.
