In Chhattisgarh's Surguja district, a heartwarming act of dedication unfolded as Sukhmaniya, a woman in her late 50s, carried her 90-year-old mother-in-law nearly 3 kilometers to a bank. This arduous journey was undertaken to resolve pending Know Your Customer (KYC) formalities that had halted the collection of a ₹500 monthly pension for four months.
Sukhmaniya, from Jangalpara village in the Mainpat block, typically received her mother-in-law's pension at home via a Bank Mitra. However, the service stopped due to incomplete KYC. On May 22, she walked to the Central Bank of India branch in Mainpat town with her mother-in-law on her back. Following the KYC completion, the bank disbursed the ₹2,000 owed for the four-month period. The bank confirmed that doorstep delivery will recommence, ensuring the elderly woman receives her pension at home from the following month onwards.
