Indian IT services firm Wipro saw its shares climb as much as 3.2% on Monday. This surge followed the company's agreement to acquire the IT services arm of Singapore-based Olam Group for an enterprise value of $375 million. Wipro Networks, a Wipro unit, will purchase 200 million ordinary shares of Mindsprint, Olam's IT and digital services division.
Mindsprint offers technology, cybersecurity, and digital services across various sectors, including food and agribusiness, manufacturing, retail, and healthcare. Analysts from ICICI Securities highlighted the acquisition as Wipro's largest to date, expected to improve revenue visibility and bolster consulting capabilities within the food and agribusiness vertical.
The transaction is anticipated to add significant domain expertise and proprietary platforms to Wipro's offerings. Furthermore, Olam has awarded Wipro an eight-year services contract with a committed annual spend of $100 million. Wipro projects the total contract value to exceed $1 billion over its term, marking a strategic enhancement beyond traditional outsourcing arrangements.
