- This expansion aims to reach 40 million U.S. residents with ultra-fast delivery.

Walmart and Alphabet's Wing are significantly expanding their drone delivery partnership, introducing service to seven new major metropolitan areas. This strategic growth aims to establish the nation's largest drone delivery network, encompassing a planned 270 locations.
The expansion follows over one million commercial deliveries already successfully completed by Wing. The service enables customers to receive packages within 30 minutes, with drones capable of speeds up to 60 mph and lowering items directly to yards or driveways.
Customers can access the drone delivery option through Walmart's app or website, or directly via the Wing app. This collaboration is progressing beyond experimental stages, with many customers reportedly using the service multiple times weekly.
Wing, which began as a Google X project in 2012, has evolved into an independent Alphabet subsidiary and is working with communities in the new markets. The company anticipates accelerating ultra-fast delivery to 40 million U.S. residents, leveraging its history as the first drone operator with an FAA Part 135 air carrier certificate.
