12 Jan
Summary
- Waaree Energies is pursuing acquisitions across the green energy value chain.
- The company plans significant capital expenditure of approximately ₹30,000 crore.
- Waaree aims to reduce its reliance on solar modules to under 40% of revenue.

Waaree Energies, India's largest solar equipment maker, is aggressively expanding its presence across the entire green energy value chain. The company is actively seeking acquisitions in areas such as transmission, distribution, grid connectivity, batteries, inverters, transformers, and electrolyzers. This strategic move is driven by the evolving, competitive landscape of solar manufacturing, which is currently experiencing intense competition and pricing pressure, leading to market consolidation.
The company has outlined an ambitious capital expenditure plan of approximately ₹30,000 crore ($3.6 billion) to fuel its growth in solar manufacturing, energy storage, and related segments. Waaree aims to transition into a full-service energy transition company, with a goal of deriving less than 40% of its revenue from solar modules within the next four to five years. This diversification strategy includes expanding its battery arm, which is set to commission a 4 GWh lithium-ion cell manufacturing plant next year.
