Volvo Cars has announced ambitious plans to launch 13 new models by the year 2030. This significant product offensive aims to broaden the automaker's range and revive flagging sales.
The Sweden-based company is targeting an earnings before interest and tax (EBIT) margin of above 8%. This is a substantial increase from its current figures and is a key objective for the coming years.
To achieve this, Volvo will introduce six new models tailored for the Chinese market. Concurrently, seven new vehicles are planned for Western markets.
The Western-market vehicles will be developed on Volvo's advanced SPA2 and SPA3 platforms. Meanwhile, the China-focused models will be a collaborative effort with its sister company, Geely Auto.
CEO Hakan Samuelsson highlighted four core strengths driving this strategy: regionalized product offerings, a strong focus on electrification, unique synergies with Geely, and comprehensive customer solutions extending beyond the vehicle itself.
