Volkswagen India has introduced the Tayron R-Line, its new flagship SUV, aiming to build on recent momentum. This model expands the brand's SUV range and takes over from the Tiguan.
The Tayron R-Line presents a restrained design with R-Line accents and 19-inch alloy wheels, emphasizing longevity. Inside, a 15-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a 10.25-inch digital cockpit, and an augmented-reality head-up display create a technologically advanced yet intuitive cabin.
Interior quality is high, with robust components and premium finishes. The front seats offer extensive adjustment and comfort features, suitable for a flagship vehicle. As a three-row SUV, it provides ample space in the first two rows, with the third row best for children or shorter journeys.
Versatility is a strong point, offering up to 1905 litres of boot space when the third row is folded. Safety features are comprehensive, including nine airbags and electronic stability control. Technology enhancements include a three-zone Climatronic system and a Harman Kardon sound system.
Powered by a 2.0-litre TSI EA888 evo4 petrol engine producing 201 bhp, it is paired with a 7-speed DSG and 4MOTION all-wheel-drive. This setup allows for a 0-100 kph acceleration in 7.3 seconds. The driving dynamics are stable and composed, even at high speeds and on varied terrains.
Expected to be priced around ₹52 lakh (ex-showroom), the Tayron R-Line positions itself between premium mainstream SUVs and entry-level luxury offerings. It aims to deliver a premium experience through strong performance, technology, and driving confidence.
