Vodafone Idea (Vi) has announced a plan to settle approximately ₹49,000 crore in spectrum dues over the next three years, with installments of ₹7,000 crore in FY27, ₹15,000 crore in FY28, and ₹27,000 crore in FY29. This crucial financial commitment is expected to bolster confidence among lenders as the company seeks bank funding.
Vi aims to finance these payments through a combination of enhanced EBITDA, internal cash flows, and new bank loans. This strategy runs parallel to a substantial ₹45,000-crore capital expenditure program focused on expanding its 4G coverage and accelerating 5G rollout.
The company reports operational improvements, including consistent monthly subscriber additions, an expanded 4G population coverage reaching over 86%, and a growing broadband tower count. Vi's 5G services are currently live in over 200 cities and are slated for expansion to around 450 cities shortly. Network upgrades have increased capacity by 47% and improved 4G coverage significantly.
