Digital engineering firm Virtusa has expanded its market presence by acquiring SmartSoC Solutions, a company specializing in semiconductor engineering and integrated circuit (IC) design. This strategic acquisition enables Virtusa to offer comprehensive end-to-end services across the entire digital technology ecosystem, from the chip layer up through networks, cloud, and applications.
The integration of SmartSoC, with its centers in Bengaluru, Hubli, and Hyderabad, will bolster Virtusa's capabilities in silicon design, verification, and embedded systems. The addition of SmartSoC's 1,400 engineers, who possess deep expertise in VLSI, physical design, and embedded software, significantly strengthens Virtusa's capacity for large-scale, cost-effective engineering services.
Virtusa CEO Nitesh Banga highlighted the increasing criticality of in-house chip design due to the complexity of AI models and global data center expansion. This acquisition positions Virtusa at the forefront of innovation, enabling them to architect future technologies from the fundamental silicon layer upwards.
