Hertfordshire County Council announced that the project, which began on September 15, 2025, concluded on October 19, 2025, a full 12 weeks ahead of schedule.
This accelerated completion has resulted in a substantial cost saving of £1 million. The original budget for the 18 weeks of planned work was £2.3 million. However, the council managed to execute the necessary repairs in just six weeks, working around the clock.
The refurbishment focused on critical joint repairs that had deteriorated, allowing water ingress and presenting a significant safety hazard to all road users. By completing the work efficiently and ahead of time, the council not only averted potential safety risks but also achieved considerable financial savings.
