These science-backed interventions aim to enhance soil health, water accessibility, and introduce cost-effective technologies, fostering resilient farming systems. The program specifically supports over 12,000 women farmers, alongside 8,000 men, across key districts like Jharsuguda and Kalahandi in Odisha, and Korba in Chhattisgarh.
Initiatives such as 'Mor Jal Mor Maati' in Chhattisgarh and 'Vedgram'/'Sangam' in Odisha are introducing climate-smart farming models, regenerative agriculture, and improved water management. These projects have demonstrably increased farmer productivity by 15-20% and income by 18-22%, through practices like the System of Rice Intensification (SRI) and Wadi models. Farmers are also benefiting from livestock improvement and organic farming workshops.
Further enhancing agricultural outcomes, Vedanta Aluminium partners with institutions like ICAR-CTCRI and NABARD for soil conditioning and rural skilling. Digital tools, including AI-powered devices and automated weather stations, are being deployed to promote precision farming.
