Vande Bharat Trial Run Cancelled Due to Technical Glitches
4 Jun
Summary
- Bengaluru-Mangaluru Vande Bharat trial run was cancelled on June 3.
- Technical issues cited include lack of AEB system and rake availability.
- A sleeper service between Bengaluru and Mumbai is expected soon.

The trial run for the proposed Bengaluru-Mangaluru Vande Bharat Express, initially slated for June 3, has been abruptly cancelled by South Western Railway. This decision has dashed hopes for connecting the two cities with the high-speed train, leaving its immediate future uncertain.
The cancellation appears to stem from technical issues, with reports suggesting the lack of an Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB) system and unavailability of the required train rake as primary reasons. Railway officials had planned the trial to assess the train's performance on the challenging Shiradi Ghat section, known for its steep gradients and tunnels.
Despite the setback for the Bengaluru-Mangaluru route, there is positive news regarding other Vande Bharat services. Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw announced that the long-awaited Vande Bharat Sleeper service connecting Bengaluru and Mumbai is expected to commence soon. This development highlights ongoing advancements in India's high-speed rail network.
