New Vande Bharat Sleeper Trains Await Final Routes

Two Vande Bharat Sleeper trains are presently stationed in Bengaluru, awaiting official route assignments from the Railway Board. These advanced, orange-and-grey trains, a product of BEML utilizing technology from ICF, have successfully completed multiple trial phases.
The initial Vande Bharat Sleeper service commenced in January 2026, operating between Howrah and Kamakhya, dramatically cutting travel time between these cities by up to six hours. As confirmed by Railway Board Additional Director General Dharmendra Tewari, the two available rakes in Bengaluru have yet to be allocated to any specific railway zone.
Further enhancing long-distance travel, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw announced in May that a Vande Bharat Sleeper train would soon operate between Bengaluru and Mumbai. This upcoming service is expected to improve passenger comfort and the overall overnight journey experience on this important route.
