In Vadodara, a significant step towards digital inclusion and women's economic empowerment has been taken. Fifteen women auto-rickshaw drivers, from economically weaker backgrounds and popularly known as 'pink auto drivers', have integrated into the Bharat Taxi platform. This move opens up opportunities for higher earnings and improved safety through a tech-enabled mobility ecosystem.
Previously supported by the Alembic Foundation's #ForHerWithHer initiative, these women were enabled to purchase and operate their own auto-rickshaws, a crucial step towards financial independence. Their inclusion in Bharat Taxi is expected to broaden earning potential by ensuring more consistent ride opportunities and greater income stability.
The Bharat Taxi Driver App provides flexible working options and features like real-time tracking. A key benefit is its zero-commission model, allowing drivers to keep their entire earnings, which are credited directly to their accounts. This initiative, supported by the cooperation ministry, aims to promote inclusive urban mobility while financially empowering women drivers.
