To mark this silver jubilee, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated a slew of infrastructure projects worth Rs 8,260 crore ($8.2 billion) in the state. Addressing the celebratory event, the PM noted that work on projects worth over Rs 2 lakh crore ($200 billion) is currently underway in Uttarakhand. He also highlighted the state's impressive financial growth, stating that its budget has increased from just Rs 4,000 crore ($4 billion) 25 years ago to over Rs 1 lakh crore ($100 billion) today.
"Today as we celebrate the State Foundation Day, I am fully confident that in the coming years, our Uttarakhand will reach new heights of development. It will carry forward its culture and identity with the same pride," said PM Modi, expressing his optimism for the state's future. He expressed his belief that by the time India celebrates its 100th year of independence, Uttarakhand will be at the "peak of prosperity."
