Summary
- Squishy Dino and Unicorn Eggs recalled due to bursting.
- Products pose microbiological and choking hazards.
- Return toys to Matalan for a full refund immediately.

Urgent recalls have been issued for Squishy Dino and Unicorn Eggs, sold at retailers like Matalan, due to significant safety concerns. The toys present a serious microbiological and choking risk, as they are prone to bursting during use. This bursting releases small parts and a liquid solution found to contain an excess of aerobic microbials, which can cause adverse health effects, particularly for immunocompromised individuals.
Consumers have been strongly advised to cease using these products immediately. They are instructed to return the toys to the place of purchase, Matalan, for a complete refund. Notably, proof of purchase, such as a receipt, is not required for this return process, emphasizing the urgency and severity of the recall.
This recall follows a series of product safety alerts. Earlier, popular chocolate bars from Home Bargains were recalled for failing to list allergens in English, and M&S recalled chocolate honeycomb snacks due to undeclared peanuts. Aldi also issued recalls for custard tarts with undeclared allergens, highlighting ongoing product safety issues across various food and toy items.
