United Parcel Service inaugurated a significant $100 million logistics center in Taiwan on Wednesday, establishing its largest facility across the Asia Pacific. This expansion directly addresses the escalating demand from technology firms, especially those in Taiwan's prominent semiconductor industry.
The new center, situated in Taoyuan, a location near the island's main international airport, is also designated as an Asian distribution hub for Applied Materials. This U.S.-based semiconductor equipment manufacturer will utilize the facility.
Approximately 80% of the freight processed through this new hub is related to high-tech products. UPS highlighted Taiwan's global leadership in advanced semiconductor manufacturing processes as a key factor for this investment. The company is also exploring additional flight routes to southern Taiwan, such as Kaohsiung, based on evolving customer needs.
