UP Textiles Export Soars to ₹35K Cr, Aims for Global Hub Status

Uttar Pradesh's textile sector has demonstrated robust growth, with exports rising by 10% to approximately ₹35,000 crore in the financial year 2026. As India's third-largest fabric manufacturer, contributing about 13% of domestic production, the state is setting its sights higher.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath announced aspirations for Uttar Pradesh to become a global textile hub. The strategy involves developing the entire value chain, from raw materials to branded garments ready for international markets. This ambition is supported by recent MoUs worth over ₹5,196 crore signed at the UP Textile Conclave.

Significant investment is being directed towards key textile manufacturing areas. Land has been identified for textile projects in Varanasi, Amroha, Bareilly, Sant Kabir Nagar, and Bijnor, with further expansion planned. The state also boasts 17 textile products with Geographical Indication (GI) tags, enhancing their unique value and market appeal.

The CM emphasized the need to strengthen technical textile capabilities, which are crucial for sectors like defense, healthcare, agriculture, and sports, moving beyond traditional products. This forward-looking approach aims to secure Uttar Pradesh's position as a leader in the evolving global textile landscape.
