Iconic UK Theme Park Lightwater Valley Hits the Market for £3M
29 Oct
Summary
- Lightwater Valley named UK's best value theme park in 2024
- 182-acre venue with over 35 rides now up for sale
- Dinosaur Park in Wales also on the market for £4M

In a surprising turn of events, Lightwater Valley, the UK's most cost-effective theme park, has been put up for sale with a £3 million price tag. The 182-acre venue, which boasts over 35 rides and was named the country's best value theme park last year, is now seeking a new owner to take over and develop the long-established business.
The park, which features a mix of gentle rides, adventure play areas, and themed attractions suited to families with young children, has played an important role in North Yorkshire's tourism scene, offering a more relaxed alternative to larger, thrill-heavy destinations. However, the current owners have decided to put the park on the market, providing an opportunity for a new buyer to take ownership and potentially expand the business.
Interestingly, Lightwater Valley is not the only top UK attraction seeking new ownership. The Dinosaur Park, situated near Tenby in South Wales, has also been put up for sale for an eye-watering £4 million. The park, which attracts around 60,000 visitors every day and features 36 rides and activities, has been owned by the current operators for over 30 years. But with the owners now planning for retirement, the Dinosaur Park is also on the market, presenting a chance for a new owner to take over and potentially build on the park's success.
