Home Credit India Finance, a subsidiary of TVS Holdings, has entered into an agreement to acquire 100% of Varthana Finance. This all-cash transaction is valued at Rs 967 crore and marks a significant expansion for the TVS group into the education finance sector.
The acquisition is expected to be finalized within nine months of signing the share purchase agreement. Upon closing, Varthana Finance will become a wholly owned subsidiary of Home Credit India and a step-down wholly owned subsidiary of TVS Holdings.
This strategic move will allow the group to enter the secured, longer-tenure lending segment, thereby strengthening its presence in India's financial services market. Varthana Finance specializes in providing credit to educational institutions, including schools, colleges, and training centers.
In the 2025-26 fiscal year, Varthana Finance reported a profit after tax of Rs 18.65 crore and had a net worth of Rs 574.23 crore. Its turnover for the same period was Rs 398 crore, an increase from the previous year's Rs 325.69 crore.
