7 Jan
Summary
- Turkey's automotive market achieved record sales in 2025.
- Nearly 17% of passenger cars sold were fully electric last year.
- Sales are expected to remain strong, potentially exceeding 1.5 million units.

Turkey's automotive market experienced a historic year in 2025, setting a new record for vehicle sales. The total market for cars and light commercial vehicles reached 1.37 million units, marking a 10.5% increase from the previous year. This growth was primarily attributed to strong domestic demand, increasing mobility needs, and an aging vehicle fleet.
Electrified vehicles played a crucial role in this surge. Fully electric car sales soared by 90%, reaching approximately 190,000 units and securing a 17% share of the passenger car market. Hybrid vehicle sales also demonstrated robust growth, increasing by 63% to around 295,000 units, representing 27% of the market.
Industry experts anticipate sales in 2026 to maintain a similar volume to the previous year, with projections suggesting future potential for the market to exceed 1.5 million units. This sustained growth indicates a positive outlook for Turkey's automotive sector, particularly for electric and hybrid models.
