28 Sep
Summary
- TSMC aims for 120,000 wafers/month of 2nm by late 2026.
- Major clients like Apple and Nvidia increased 2nm orders by 10-20%.
- 2nm technology represents 3% of TSMC's wafer revenue in Q2.
Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) is significantly advancing its 2-nanometer (2nm) production capabilities, aiming for an output of around 120,000 wafers per month by the close of 2026. This target represents an increase from earlier projections. Major technology firms, including Apple, Nvidia, Advanced Micro Devices, Qualcomm, and MediaTek, are reportedly escalating their 2nm orders by 10% to 20%.
This heightened demand from leading customers underscores their strategic preparation for next-generation processors and artificial intelligence accelerators. The 2nm technology is increasingly forming a larger segment of TSMC's advanced manufacturing processes. As of the second quarter, 2nm accounted for 3% of wafer revenue, with high-performance computing comprising 66% of total revenue, reflecting a notable upward trend from the previous year.
