TK Elevator: IPO or Sale? Decision Looms
31 Mar
Summary
- TK Elevator confirms no final decision on its future strategy.
- An Initial Public Offering remains one of several options.
- Speculation mounts over a potential sale to rival Kone.

TK Elevator has announced that it has not yet reached a conclusion on its future strategic path, with an Initial Public Offering (IPO) still considered a viable option. This statement follows recent reports indicating that Finland's Kone is engaged in discussions to acquire TK Elevator.
A potential combination of Kone and TK Elevator would establish the dominant player in the global elevator market, overtaking existing leaders Otis and Schindler. The current owners of TK Elevator, Advent International and Cinven, had been preparing for a planned IPO.
However, market volatility in equity markets may be making a direct sale a more attractive prospect, according to recent reports. Concerns have also been raised by Schindler's CEO, who indicated that his company would contest any merger between Kone and TK Elevator through antitrust authorities.
TK Elevator was formerly part of Thyssenkrupp's elevator technology business, which was sold in 2020 for 17.2 billion euros to a consortium including Advent, Cinven, and the RAG foundation.
