22 Jan
Summary
- Ads will start appearing for all Threads users globally the week of Jan. 26.
- Threads has surpassed X in daily active mobile users, reaching 141.5 million.
- Meta plans to integrate ad formats similar to those on Facebook and Instagram.

Meta's social media platform, Threads, is set to introduce advertisements to its global user base starting the week of January 26th. This move aims to establish a significant new revenue stream for the company.
The rollout will be gradual, with Meta intending to focus initially on markets offering substantial ad inventory. Users will encounter ad types mirroring those already present on Facebook and Instagram, such as image, video, and carousel ads, alongside specific catalog and app ads.
This advertising expansion coincides with Threads reaching over 400 million monthly active users. Recent reports indicate Threads has accrued 141.5 million daily active mobile users, outperforming its rival X, which recorded 125 million daily active mobile users. However, X still holds a larger overall presence with 150 million daily web visits compared to Threads' 8.5 million.
