- A Facebook account hack led to a significant loss of followers and views.
- Founders cited rising costs and operational delays as contributing factors.

Taylor Chip, a popular cookie company known for its large treats and unique flavors, has announced its complete closure. The decision follows a failed attempt at bankruptcy reorganization, with founders Doug and Sara Taylor expressing their deep regret over the outcome after years of effort.
The company's rapid expansion, coupled with operational difficulties, contributed to its eventual downfall. A particularly devastating blow was the hacking of their Facebook account and advertising profile approximately 2.5 years ago, which resulted in the loss of 150,000 followers and millions of views, a critical setback for a bootstrapped business reliant on its online presence.
In February, Taylor Chip filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection to stabilize operations and restructure. At the time, the filing revealed the company owed over $2.5 million with only about $400,000 in assets. The founders had stated that Chapter 11 was intended to allow the business to survive and grow stronger, necessitating the closure of some stores.
Limited operations will continue as the company winds down. Nationwide shipping will be available for orders placed by 9 a.m. on April 8. Specific store closing dates vary, with the York store closing after April 4, Hershey on April 11, and the Intercourse location already closed. The Manheim Pike location will maintain regular hours through the week before adjusting its schedule.
