Tata Power Profit Dips Amidst Thermal Woes
12 May
Summary
- Consolidated net profit fell 4.5% to ₹996 crore in March quarter.
- Thermal generation revenue decline offset by steady T&D contributions.
- Company recommended a final dividend of ₹2.50 per equity share.
Tata Power experienced a 4.5% decrease in consolidated net profit for the March quarter, reporting ₹996 crore compared to ₹1,043 crore in the previous year. Revenue from operations also saw a 12.8% drop, reaching ₹14,900 crore, with EBITDA margins narrowing to 17.4%.
This quarterly performance was impacted by a significant decline in thermal generation revenue and the temporary suspension of the Mundra Power Plant for overhauling since July 3, 2025. The full-year results, however, showed a rise in net profit to ₹5,118 crore, with the renewables segment being the largest contributor.
The board has proposed a final dividend of ₹2.50 per equity share for the fiscal year 2026, pending shareholder approval. The company is also progressing with approvals for revised tariffs for its power purchase agreements following the Mundra plant's partial recommencement.
