Tata Motors Accelerates EV Plans: New Models by 2026

Tata Motors has outlined an ambitious strategy to broaden its electric vehicle presence in the Indian market. The automaker intends to introduce the Avinya EV by the close of 2026, with the Sierra EV and Punch EV set to follow. These vehicles will utilize Tata's new Gen 3 EV architecture, a specialized skateboard platform engineered for battery-electric cars, promising extended range and rapid charging capabilities.

Further expansion of Tata's electric portfolio is planned with three additional models slated for introduction between FY27 and FY30. This initiative builds on the brand's existing EV offerings, including the popular Nexon.ev, which recently achieved a milestone of over 100,000 sales, contributing to Tata's overall 250,000 EV sales. The company is also reinforcing its commitment to charging infrastructure development.

To support the anticipated surge in EV adoption, Tata Motors is working to drastically increase the availability of charging stations. The company's goal is to establish one million charging points by 2030, including 100,000 public chargers. This comprehensive approach aims to solidify Tata's position in the rapidly evolving electric mobility landscape.
