Tata Motors has introduced the much-anticipated petrol variant of its flagship Harrier SUV in India. This launch addresses a significant gap in the current diesel-only lineup, offering consumers a choice for enhanced refinement and quieter operation, particularly suited for city driving.
The new Harrier petrol is powered by Tata's 1.5-litre TGDi turbo petrol engine, which generates approximately 167.7 hp and 280 Nm of torque. This powertrain comes standard with a 6-speed manual gearbox, and an automatic transmission option will also be available, promising a smoother and more responsive driving experience.
Positioned to be slightly more affordable than its diesel counterpart, with an estimated price starting around Rs 15 lakh (ex-showroom), the petrol Harrier aims to capture a wider market segment. It competes directly with rivals like the MG Hector and Hyundai Alcazar, offering the same advanced features and safety credentials as the recently facelifted diesel model.
