Tamil Nadu Invests 1,248 Crore in Road Network Expansion

In a major infrastructure boost for Tamil Nadu, Chief Minister M.K. Stalin on November 1, 2025, virtually inaugurated 1,248 crore worth of new roads constructed by the state highways department. The projects span several districts, including Erode, Tiruvarur, Mayiladuthurai, Thanjavur, Tiruvallur, Tirunelveli, Ariyalur, and Madurai.
Some of the key initiatives include the four-laning of the 30.6 km Erode-Gobichettipalayam road at a cost of 272 crore, the widening of the 16.4 km Mayiladuthurai-Tiruvarur road for 221 crore, and the four-laning of the 11.4 km Korattur-Thinnanur-Periyapalayam road for 111 crore. Additionally, two new rail overbridges were inaugurated in Vellore.
Alongside the road projects, the Chief Minister also flagged off 87 new ambulances for the state's 108 emergency service, costing close to 19 crore. This brings the total number of 108 ambulances in Tamil Nadu to 1,353, with 307 equipped with advanced life support and 65 being neo-natal ambulances.
Furthermore, the Chief Minister handed over land records to local officials to establish new burial grounds for Christians and Muslims in several districts, ensuring proper facilities and amenities for the communities.
