18 Aug
Summary
- A 200km sea-link corridor is planned from Ennore to Puducherry.
- Feasibility for commuter boating service on the same route will be explored.
- An elevated corridor is planned for the busy Santhome to Adyar stretch.

The state highways and small ports department in Tamil Nadu has unveiled plans for a significant 200km sea-link corridor. This corridor is projected to connect Ennore, Mamallapuram, and Puducherry, with the goal of enhancing tourism, commuter travel, and industrial links between ports. The department will also investigate the feasibility of introducing a commuter boating service along this route in collaboration with the Union ministry of shipping, ports and waterways, and the Puducherry government.
Minister Aadhav Arjuna announced that this sea-link corridor project, which had stalled previously, is being revitalized to benefit the state for the next century. Additionally, a separate project will construct an elevated corridor from Light House in Santhome to Thiru Vi Ka Bridge in Adyar. This elevated structure is deemed necessary due to heavy pedestrian traffic and limited options for road expansion in the area.
