Sugar-Free Oreos Debut in US
10 Dec
Summary
- Sugar-free Oreos are a new permanent addition to the US lineup.
- The cookies use maltitol, polydextrose, sucralose, and acesulfame potassium.
- Zero Sugar Oreos contain no added sugars, unlike regular versions.

Oreo is launching sugar-free versions of its classic cookies in the U.S. next January, adding Oreo Zero Sugar and Oreo Double Stuf Zero Sugar to its permanent lineup. This marks the first time these sugar-free options will be available in the United States, though they are already sold in Europe and China.
The company, Mondelez, is responding to a growing consumer trend towards "mindful indulgence" and snacks perceived as healthier. Market research indicates a significant portion of Americans are actively seeking such options, with younger generations like Millennials and Gen Z showing a particular interest in portion-controlled and wellness-focused snacks.
Mondelez developed these no-sugar Oreos over four years, aiming to preserve the original taste. The cookies are sweetened using a blend of maltitol, polydextrose, sucralose, and acesulfame potassium. Nutritionally, a serving of Zero Sugar Oreos contains 90 calories, 4.5 grams of fat, and 16 grams of carbohydrates, with no added sugars, a significant difference from regular Oreos which contain 13 grams of added sugars per serving.
