Suffolk Owl Sanctuary Safe Despite Park Administration
18 Feb
Summary
- Animal charity operating at Stonham Barns is financially independent.
- The Suffolk Owl Sanctuary welcomes over 20,000 visitors annually.
- Administrators aim to secure the future of Stonham Barns for sale.

The Suffolk Owl Sanctuary has confirmed it is not facing closure, even as the business operating its location, Stonham Barns Holiday Park, has entered administration. This announcement on Monday led to concerns about the leisure and retail facilities at the park.
Matthew Jeffery, the sanctuary's managing director, expressed confidence, stating it is "business as usual." He highlighted the sanctuary's status as an independent tenant with a good relationship with the landlord, despite the holiday park's financial difficulties.
The sanctuary, which is marking its 25th anniversary, is a significant attraction, drawing over 20,000 visitors each year and having rescued more than 100 owls in the past year. It also cares for other animals and provides educational displays.
Administrators FRP Advisory clarified that only the holiday park aspect of Stonham Barns is in administration. The entire complex is now for sale, with the goal of ensuring its continued operation. New bookings are being accepted, and existing reservations will be honored.
