Stellantis Poissy Plant to Cease Car Production Within 4 Years
16 Apr
Summary
- Stellantis will stop making new cars at its Poissy plant near Paris.
- Production is expected to end by the end of 2028 at the earliest.
- The site will be repurposed for new activities like 3D printing and vehicle recycling.

Stellantis announced on Thursday that it will halt new vehicle production at its Poissy plant, situated near Paris, within the next three to four years. Production of models like the DS3 and Opel Mokka is slated to cease by the end of 2028 at the earliest. This decision stems from chronic overcapacity in Europe, exacerbated by competition from Chinese manufacturers and a slower-than-anticipated shift to electric vehicles.
Following the cessation of vehicle manufacturing, the Poissy site will transition to producing auto parts for other Stellantis factories. Additionally, the company will invest 100 million euros to retool the plant for new ventures, such as 3D printing of components and the reconditioning and recycling of used vehicles. Approximately 1,600 workers are currently employed at Poissy, with numbers projected to decrease to 1,200 by 2030 due to an aging workforce. However, about 1,000 new roles are anticipated to be created by 2030 to support these evolving business activities, alongside a dedicated training program.
